I’m so glad you are enjoying my blog. People sometimes where masks because of the pollution or so as to not get sick; at least that’s what I always understood. It’s not very common, but you will probably see it there.

I appreciate this blog very much. Gives me the insights into the city which are really hard to get unless you actually visit the city. Or at least would be if there were no Interwebs and people willing to share their experience.

However, I was wondering about the woman with face mask – why does she ware it and why is it common?

Thanks for the response, Kate! I will be there for Carnavales. I’m arriving in barranquilla on the 7th! So soon!
I’m teaching through a program called AIESEC, and I’m specifically teaching at Colegio Anglo-Colombia. Have you heard of it?

Hi Alyssa,
That’s awesome that you’re going to live in Barranquilla! I hope you arrive within the next week because you will be there just in time for Carnavales, which is the nest time of year in Barranquilla, so if you can, go!
Barranquilla is a wonderful city; for me, it is my home in Colombia because it is where I first lived in Colombia and where I learned Spanish. Where are you going to be teaching English?
I recommend going to La Troja if you like salsa dancing and try comida rapida (fast food) because it’s the best in the coast.
If you have any other questions don’t hesitate to ask.
